Why SOIL?

SOIL is dedicated to helping you create digital experiences that highlight human connection.

Due to the 2020 pandemic, most of us were forced into the rapid adoption of a fully-digital life. The digital transformations in business and education that would have happened over the next decade have been compressed into the last few months. The tools and approaches are haphazard at best. As a result, too many people feel a sense of disconnection and dissatisfaction with most virtual meetings and conventions, eLearning offerings, and digital experiences.

In short, digital interactions are leaving people feeling more distanced from each other than ever.

Our experience as transformational learning designers, facilitators, and practitioners told us there had to be a better way. A way to design digital experiences that leave you feeling energized, excited, and accomplished.

Over the last several years, our team at SOIL has worked to adapt our work, meetings, and programs to the digital space.

Today, you’re being challenged to an unprecedented degree. Traditional skills and techniques aren’t designed for a world that prioritizes technology.

Digital experiences demand new structures and systems. But you don’t have the time to experiment and create. You’re pressured to deliver before you’re ready.

We know meaningful connection through digital experiences is possible. But you need access to the right tools, used the right way, to achieve your goals.

We’re here to support and guide you. Together, we can design an energizing digital experience that creates connections and achieves your goals.

At SOIL, we honor your vision, priorities and goals. Whether you’re a school, university, government, business or organization, we work with you to hone, express, and bring those visions into reality. We bring decades of design expertise and a focus on whole-person experiences to help build your ideal digital offering.

We’ve All Been There

Sitting in a virtual meeting, class or training that’s modeled after an in-person experience. But the outcome isn’t the same. The event just doesn’t connect. You’re left wondering if this is how it has to be. If digital experiences will always result in participants that:

Feel frustrated, tired and unsatisfied

Regress into one-way and top-down communication and learning flows

Miss out on real, meaningful human connection

Don’t experience the full potential of online tools

Fail to achieve the program’s desired outcome

Leave dissatisfied with an experience that doesn’t reflect your values.

What is Slow Digital?

At SOIL, we work with you to create a Slow Digital experience that focuses on enhancing the richness of human connection in our schools, conferences, and workplaces. Slow Digital is a design principle focused on the creation of virtual spaces that inspire deeper connection between people and their surroundings. These connections go “beyond the screen” and prioritize relationship and process as being equal or greater to task and outcome.
